NOTICE 1487 OF 1998

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES OF THE EXECUTIVE DEPUTY PRESIDENT, MINISTERS AND DEPUTY MINISTERS

It is hereby notified for general information that the President has in terms of section 2 (1) of the Remuneration and Allowances of Executive Deputy Presidents, Ministers and Deputy Ministe s Act, 1994 (Act No. 53 of l 994) (hereinafter referred to as the Act), read with section 85 (2) (e) of and item 2 (1) of Schedule 6 to the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996 (Act No. 108 of 1996), and having given due regard to Ihe recommendations of the Independent Commission for the Remuneration of Public Officebearers published in Government Notice No. 479 of 3 April 1998, determined that the remuneration and allowances to be paid to the Executive Default President, Ministers and Deputy Ministers shall be as set out in the Schedule with effect from 1 April 1998.

It is further notified that the President has in terms of section 2 (2) (a) of the Act determined the amount of R40 000 per annum as that portion of the remuneration of an Executive Deputy President, a Minister or a Deputy Minister to which paragraph (d) of section 8 (1) of the Income Tax Act, 1962 (Act No. 58 of l 962). shall apply.

• Includes the amount of R40 000 per annum determined by the President as the amount to which paragraph (d) of section 8 (1) of the Income Tax Act, 1962, shall apply.
