The function of the South African Certification Council is presently being influenced by developments regarding examination, certification and quality assurance as provided for in the scum African Qualifications Authority Act, 1995 (Act No. 58 of 1995). A transformation of the role of SAFCERT is anticipated as a transition to the establishment of Education and Training Quality Assurer(s) for the General and Further Education and Training bands. The term of office of the present Council of SAFCERT expires on 31 March 1998 and consequently, I, Sibusiso Mandlenkosi Emmanuel Bengu, Minister of Education, hereby terminate the term of office of current members. In terms of section 4 (1) (b) (ii) of the said South African Certification Council Act, 1986 (Act No. 85 of 1986), as amended by the Third General Law Amendment Act, 1993, I request any person, society or organisation to submit to me before 20 March 1998, names of persons who may be suitable candidates on account of their educational qualifications, expertise and understanding in matters related to the role and functions of the said council, and who can make a contribution regarding the SAGA Act with reference to quality assurance, to enable me to appoint the required number of members.
