NOTICE TO EXTEND THE CLOSING DATES AND TIMES PERTAINING TO THE PROPOSED APPLICATION AND THE REGULATORY FRAMEWORK FOR VANS AND PTN's (SR 0001) AND THE APPLICATIONS THEREFOR

The South African Telecommunications Regulatory Authority ("the Authority"), hereby gives notice that:

1. The closing date for the lodgement of comments to the proposed Regulatory Framework (SRF 0001) published under Notice No. 1811 of 1997 in the Government Gazette No. 18462 dated 20 November 1997, is extended to 16:00, on 6 March 1998.
2. Oral hearings scheduled for 23 and 24 February 1998 are hereby re-scheduled to 11 and 12 March 1998 from 10:00 to 16:00, at Block B. Pin Mill Farm, 164 Katherine Street, Sandton.
3. The final Regulatory Framework will become applicable with effect from the date of its publication in the Government Gazette (The effective dates).
4. Holders of Interim VANS and PTN licences, and those persons deemed to be holding VANS and PTN licences in terms of sections 40 and 41 of the Telecommunications Act (Act No. 103 of 1996) (The Act"), are required to apply within three months after the Effective date. All other applications may be lodged with the Authority after the Effective date.

The validity of the Interim licences and those deemed in terms of sections 40 and 41 of the Act will continue until three months after the Effective date provided the licence holder shall have applied to the Authority not later than three months after the Effective date.
