NO. 62 OF 1996: PROFESSION OF TOWN CLERKS ACT, REPEAL ACT, 1996.
It is hereby notified that the President has assented to the following Act which is hereby published for general information:-
To repeal the Profession of Town Clerks Act, 1988, and to provide for matters connected therewith.

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa, as follows:-
Repeal of Act 75 of 1988, and amendments thereof
1. The Profession of Town Clerks Act, 1988 (Act No. 75 of 1988), and the Profession of Town Clerks Amendment Act, 1992 (Act No. 77 of 1992), are hereby repealed.
Transitional arrangements
2. The Minister for Provincial Affairs and Constitutional Development may, after such consultation as he or she may deem fit, including consultation with the person who holds or held office referred to in section 10 of the Profession of Town Clerks Act, 1988 (Act No. 75 of 1988), make such arrangements as he or she may deem necessary for the finalisation of any matter, including matters related to employees, assets, liabilities, rights, obligations and finances, connected with the powers, functions and duties of the Town Clerks' Council, established by section 2 of the said Act.
Short title
3. This Act shall be called the Profession of Town Clerks Act, Repeal Act, 1996.
