It is hereby notified that the President has assented to the following Act which is hereby published for general information:-

ACT
To amend the National Supplies Procurement Act, 1970, so as to amend the definition of Minister; and to provide that a bank account for the National Supplies Procurement Fund may be opened with any commercial bank; and to provide for matters connected therewith.

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa, as follows:-
Amendment of section 1 of Act 89 of 1970, as amended by section 1 of Act 89 of 1974, section 1 of Act 31 of 1982 and section 1 of Act 25 of 1988
1. Section 1 of the National Supplies Procurement Act, 1970 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), is hereby amended by the substitution for the definition of "Minister" of the following definition:
" 'Minister' means the Minister of [Economic Affairs and Technology] Trade and Industry.".
Amendment of section 12 of Act 89 of 1970, as amended by section 19 of Act 63 of 1973, section 3 of Act 31 of 1982 and section 4 of Act 25 of 1988
2. Section 12 of the principal Act is hereby amended by the substitution for subsection (4) of the following subsection:
"(4) A banking account shall be opened for the fund with [the South African Reserve Bank] any bank as defined in section I of the Banks Act, 1990 (Act No. 94 of 1990).".
Short title
3. This Act shall be called the National Supplies Procurement Amendment Act, 1995.
