NO. 70 OF 1995: POST OFFICE SERVICE AMENDMENT ACT, 1995.

It is hereby notified that the President has assented to the following Act which is hereby published for general information:-

ACT

To amend the Post Office Service Act, 1974, so as to further regulate the retirement of officers; and to provide for matters connected therewith.

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Republic I of South Africa, as follows:-

Amendment of section 17 of Act 66 of 1974, as amended by section 14 of Act 27 of 1985

1. Section 17 of the Post Office Service Act, 1974, is hereby amended by the substitution for subsection (3) of the following subsection:

"(3) The Board may at the request of an officer and on recommendation of the Postmaster General, subject to the approval of the Minister, allow the officer to retire from the service of the Department before reaching a retirement age contemplated in this section, if sufficient reason exists therefor and the retirement will not be to the detriment of the Department.".

Short title

2. This Act shall be called the Post Office Service Amendment Act, 1995.
