NO. 43 OF 1994: FUND-RAISING AMENDMENT ACT, 1994.

It is hereby notified that the President has assented to the following Act, which is hereby published for general information:

ACT

To amend the Fundraising Act, 1978, so as to provide for financial aid to organisations which render assistance to persons with psychosocial problems; and to provide for matters connected therewith.

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa, as follows:-

Amendment of section 15 of Act 107 of 1978, as amended by section 3 of Act 41 of 1980 and section 2 of Act 115 of 1991

1. Section 15 of the Fundraising Act, 1978 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), is hereby amended by the insertion after the definition of "full-time member" of the following definition: " 'psychosocial problems' means problems in the interaction between a person's psyche and social environment caused by the trauma of violence;".

Amendment of section 18 of Act 107 of 1978, as amended by section 4 of Act 41 of 1980, section I of Act 19 of 1981, section 2 of Act 82 of 1983 and section 4 of Act 115 of 1991

2. Section 18 of the principal Act is hereby amended by the substitution for paragraph (e) of the following paragraph: (e) the board of the Social Relief Fund shall be, with due regard to the financial position of that Fund and the requirements of each case, to make money in from the Fund available to organisations that in the opinion of the board are capable of rendering assistance to persons with psychosocial problems and of rendering such social relief of distress that as the board may deem fair and reasonable to members of communities that in the opinion of the board are victims of violence.".

Short title

3. This Act shall be called the Fundraising Amendment Act, 1994.
