TOWN AND REGIONAL PLANNERS AMENDMENT ACT NO. 28 OF 1993

ACT

To amend the Town and Regional Planners Act, 1984, so as to provide for the
registration of town and regional planning technicians; and to provide for
matters connected therewith.

1.   Amends section 1 of the Town and Regional Planners Act, No. 19 of 1984, as
follows:—paragraph (a) substitutes the definition of “Minister”; and paragraph
(b) adds the definitions of “town and regional planning technician” and “town
and regional planning technicians’ institute”.

2.   Amends section 3 of the Town and Regional Planners Act, No. 19 of 1984, as
follows:—paragraph (a) adds subsection (1) (d); and paragraph (b) substitutes
subsection (2).

3.   Amends section 5 (2) of the Town and Regional Planners Act, No. 19 of 1984,
as follows:—paragraph (a) deletes the word “or” at the end of paragraph ( f );
and paragraph (b) adds the word “or” at the end of paragraph (g), and adds
paragraph (h).

4.   Amends section 9 of the Town and Regional Planners Act, No. 19 of 1984, as
follows:—paragraph (a) substitutes subsection (1) ( f ) and (g); paragraph (b)
substitutes subsection (1) (i) and ( j); paragraph (c) substitutes subsection
(1) (l); paragraph (d) substitutes subsection (1) (u) (i); and paragraph (e)
substitutes subsection (2).

5 and 6.   Substitute respectively sections 10 and 12 of the Town and Regional
Planners Act, No. 19 of 1984.

7.   Amends section 15 (1) of the Town and Regional Planners Act, No. 19 of
1984, as follows:—paragraph (a) deletes the word “and” at the end of paragraph
(b); and paragraph (b) adds the word “and” at the end of paragraph (c), and adds
paragraph (d).

8.   Amends section 16 (2) of the Town and Regional Planners Act, No. 19 of
1984, as follows:—paragraph (a) deletes the word “or” at the end of paragraph
(e); and paragraph (b) adds the word “or” at the end of paragraph ( f ), and
adds paragraph (g).

9.   Amends section 20 (4) (a) of the Town and Regional Planners Act, No. 19 of
1984, by substituting the expression “R2 000” for the expression “R200”.

10.   Inserts section 21A in the Town and Regional Planners Act, No. 19 of 1984.

11.   Amends section 22 of the Town and Regional Planners Act, No. 19 of 1984,
by substituting subsection (1).

12.   Amends section 23 of the Town and Regional Planners Act, No. 19 of 1984,
as follows:—paragraph (a) substitutes subsection (1); and paragraph (b)
substitutes the proviso to subsection (3) (b).

13.   Substitutes section 24 of the Town and Regional Planners Act, No. 19 of
1984.

14.   Amends section 25 of the Town and Regional Planners Act, No. 19 of 1984,
as follows:—paragraph (a) substitutes subsection (1); and paragraph (b)
substitutes subsections (3) and (4).

15.   Substitutes section 27 of the Town and Regional Planners Act, No. 19 of
1984.

16.   Amends section 28 (1) of the Town and Regional Planners Act, No. 19 of
1984, as follows:—paragraph (a) substitutes paragraphs (c), (d) and (e); and
paragraph (b) substitutes paragraph (g).

17.   Amends section 31 (1) of the Town and Regional Planners Act, No. 19 of
1984, by substituting the words preceding paragraph (a).

18.   Amends section 34 of the Town and Regional Planners Act, No. 19 of 1984,
by substituting paragraph (b).

19.   Substitutes the long title of the Town and Regional Planners Act, No. 19
of 1984.

20.   Short title.—This Act shall be called the Town and Regional Planners
Amendment Act, 1993.
