Voters were generally highly satisfied with their voting experience in the 2019 National and Provincial Elections and overwhelmingly believed the election procedures to be free and fair. This is according to the results of the Election Satisfaction Survey conducted on Election Day 8 May 2019 by the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC). The survey was conducted at a sample of 300 voting stations countrywide selected to be nationally representative. At each voting station 50 voters were interviewed across four different time slots to ensure a fair reflection of the different conditions during the day.

The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) welcomes the 2019 election results. We would like to extend our congratulations to all South Africans who exercised their democratic right to vote in what proved to be one of the most highly contested elections in the history of our democracy. The challenges facing the ruling party are mammoth and issues such as the findings of the State Capture Commission, the e-tolls debacle, and the problematic AARTO amendment Bill that recently passed through Parliament, will have to be addressed. This is also an opportunity for President Cyril Ramaphosa to fulfil the promises he made to the electorate and to clean up key institutions of state. We have already seen some corrective measures with sacking of former SARS boss Tom Moyane, as well as advocates Nomgcobo Jiba and Lawrence Mrwebi from the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

We reflected on our performance as a Party, and the entire electoral process with its substantially flawed systems. In our examination and analysis of the elections, we were consistent with our attitude that the bourgeois electoral system is not the solution to our problems, nor the route to Socialism but a necessary terrain of struggle for the working class in our struggle for Socialism. We ...

The South African Communist Party accepts the outcomes of our country’s sixth democratic general election held in May 2019 as announced by the Independent Electoral Commission last night, Saturday 11 May 2019. The people have once again given the ANC a mandate to lead our country. The SACP expresses its sincere gratitude to all South Africans who voted the ANC. The victory was made possible also by the tireless and unambiguous campaigning efforts of the members, supporters and volunteers of the SACP, Cosatu and its affiliates, Sanco, the leagues and desks of Alliance components, and student formations Sasco and Cosas, as well as a wide range of supportive South Africans, over and above the ANC. The SACP expresses its appreciation for the unequivocal efforts. The SACP further wishes to thank all South Africans who exercised their rights as enshrined in our hard-won Constitution, who participated in the election and made it successful.
