The Young Communist League of South Africa [uFasimba] in Josie Mpama District (Fezile Dabi Region) will be launching its first 'One ward - One youth' cooperative campaign. The campaign is one of the outstanding programmes of the District Committee on youth unemployment as per our first plenary session which was held from the 17th to the 19th of August in Parys, Forum Building.

The district will be using youth cooperatives as a way to rally young people to become entrepreneurs. Youth unemployment in the country has increased to alarming levels which has resulted in young people expressing their warranted dissatisfaction on their participation in the mainstream economic governance.

The campaign is inline with the YCLSA 10th Youth Demands which calls for one youth cooperative in each ward and also calls for micro finance for youth cooperatives. Different stakeholders has been invited on the day to present opportunities available for young people in cooperatives or those who wish to venture into this business model.

Through this campaign, we aim to encourage our communities amd especially young people to venture into business on socialist principles. In this way, the economic and social benefits of their business activity can stay in their communities this allowing people to take control of their economic futures.

Cooperatives are better because they give individuals participation through ownership, which makes them inherently more engaging, more productive, and both more useful and more relevant in the contemporary world. The aim is to elevate participation within membership and governance to a new level.

Due to compelling concatenation of factors, chiefly emanating from the recent protests in Heilbron the program will no longer be held in Heilbron. The commitee's rigorous deliberations concluded that the program be moved to Koppies under the following arrangements:

Town : Koppies (Kwakwatsi)
Venue : Kwakwatsi Community Hall
Time : 11 am
Date : 12 October 2018

The event will be blessed by the presence of the Deputy Minister of Economic Development Department Cde Madala Masuku and the Executive Mayor for Ngwathe Municipality Cde Joey Mochela.

Furthermore we will be receiving support from all PYA components in the district led by:

1. Cde Serame Mpholo - COSAS Regional Secretary
2. Cde Babiky Dewet - ANCYL REC Member
3. Cde Hloni Maloka - SASCO Regional Chairperson

We will also receive presentations from the NYDA, Destea and SEDA

All members of the media , our membership and general public are invited.

“Making Cooperatives Popular for Youth Employment”
