The Portfolio Committees on Water and Sanitation, Human Settlement and Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs will this coming weekend conduct a joint oversight visit to Vhembe and Mopani Districts in Limpopo.
The two-day oversight visit will begin on Friday, 28 October 2022, at the Vhembe District municipal offices in Thohoyandou where the committees will be engaging with the Nandoni Complaints Resolution Committee, Vhembe District Municipality, Lepelle Northern Water, and the Department of Water and Sanitation on issues relating to the petition that was received by the Speaker of the National Assembly on 13 April 2022.
The meeting will be followed by a visit of the committees to the communities that were relocated as a result of the construction of the Nandoni Dam in 1998. The committees will, among other things, assess the extent of challenges raised in the petition, on housing, water, sanitation, and lack of agricultural land.
On Saturday, the committees will conduct a site visit to the Nsami Water Treatment Works project in Giyani.
