The UDM condemns the failure of President Zuma to declare his interests and assets, as required by law.

President Zuma must declare his interests immediately as the law requires and as his predecessors did. There is no need to seek legal opinion.

Not only is it his duty as head of state, but also a personal obligation since he has been vociferous in speaking against corruption. In order to stamp out corruption, he needs to lead by example. If he does not declare his interests, his Ministers and other government officials will follow his example. The fight against corruption will be impossible if all senior officials do not declare their interests.

It is important for him to make this declaration, and dispel the allegations from his own alliance partners that he is pushing the economic agenda of big business.
