The Railway Safety Regulator (RSR) obtained a clean audit from the Auditor-General of South Africa and has achieved 100 per cent of its annual performance targets for the 2020/21 Financial Year. This is a watershed moment in the history of the Regulator. All findings related to the identified supply chain management non-compliances emanating from the 2019/20 financial year were addressed, gearing the organisation to deliver a clean audit.

The RSR’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mmuso Selaledi, expressed his pride at the accomplishment. ”Attaining a clean audit is a huge achievement for any organisation. This being the RSR’s  first clean audit since its establishment is not only a sweet victory but also a sign of changing times. The organisation’s value of EXCELLENCE has become the cornerstone of all engagements at the RSR and will allow us to achieve similar accolades in future”.

The RSR’s efforts over the past few years have been deliberate and ensured the achievement of this clean audit. For some time now, the Regulator has been hard at work to build a culture rooted in excellence, accountability, and clean governance. The Regulator’s performance processes have matured to the extent that for the second year in a row, the audit on performance information was unqualified with no findings. This is no small feat and can only be attributed to the quality work delivered by all RSR staff.
