The number of new confirmed Covid-19 cases has almost doubled, according to the latest update from the Department of Health.
The number of new cases totalled 1 366 on Thursday, compared to 756 on Wednesday.
Another 62 deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported on Thursday.
One person was reported to have died in the Eastern Cape, 11 in the Free State, eight in Gauteng, two in KwaZulu-Natal, five in Mpumalanga, 30 in the North West and five in the Northern Cape.
Another 4 720 Covid-19 vaccinations were administered.
Earlier on Thursday, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said the country had secured 51-million doses of vaccines from manufacturers with a target of vaccinating between 250 000 to 270 000 people per day.
