The office of the Public Protector is confident that its head, Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane, will be cleared of any wrongdoing by the Independent Panel appointed by Parliament following the pronouncement of alleged prima facie evidence against her.
Parliament Speaker Thandi Modise appointed Justice Bess Nkabinde, advocate Dumisa Ntsebenza SC and advocate Johan de Waal to the panel.
Mkhwebane has said that her office is fully operational and that the ongoing parliamentary proceedings have no direct bearing on the functioning of the office.
“Staff around the 18 centers around the country remain hard at work, processing all incoming complaints of maladministration and improper conduct in line with the office’s constitutional mandate, “ the statement said.
