The Minister of Transport, Honourable Fikile Mbalula (MP) will table the Department’s Budget for 2019/20 in the New National Assembly Chamber, Cape Town on Tuesday, 9 July under the theme “Transport, together moving South Africa into a new dawn”. The Minister will be joined during the tabling, by the Deputy Minister of Transport Mme Dikeledi Magadzi, provincial MECs for Roads and Transport and Community Safety and Liaison, Board Chairpersons and CEOs of transport entities as well as key stakeholders in the transport sector, members of the community and the media.
 
As part of the Budget speech, Minister Mbalula will present a roadmap highlighting critical focus areas that the Department will embark upon underpinned by the principle of “khaw’leza” to accelerate the delivery of transport services to the citizenry of South Africa. Following a recent, robust and successful three-day long strategic planning session with the Department’s senior management as well as Board Chairpersons and Chief Executive Officers of its 12 State Owned Entities and a meeting with all Transport MECs this past Friday, Minister Mbalula will present the crucial role that the Department will play in achieving the seven Apex Priorities of the Sixth Administration.
 
On Wednesday, 10th July, Minister Mbalula will brief members of the media highlighting, among others, tangible plans and priorities that the Department will be putting in place as a matter of urgency to turn around the state of transport in South Africa which form part of his 100 Days in Office Plan.
 
The Minister’s itinerary for the 2019/20 Transport Budget Vote tabling and media briefing is as follows:
