What does it mean to be a man? Is masculinity in crisis?

As the debate about what makes a “real” man continues to rage in private and public conversations, the true question is: What do men have to say for themselves? Shifting social realities, economic pressures and changing cultural norms have challenged traditional expectations of men as providers, protectors, and procreators. Yet there are no clear scripts for what manhood should look like today.

In Man-Hood: Confessions from the Heart, 21 men from all walks of life tell their stories. They consider what it means to be a good partner, explore how to pivot when you supposedly fail as a provider, reflect on the changing gender roles in the home, and show what it takes to stand on your vision of manhood – even if it means defying age-old traditions.

Thought-provoking and deeply honest, these accounts expose the vulnerability – and humanity – that often remains hidden beneath cultural and patriarchal performances of masculinity.
