Police Minister, General Bheki Cele, together with the Executive Director for Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID), Ms Jennifer Ntlatseng will brief media during the launch of the new IPID toll free number.
This number is aimed at centralising the IPID communication system, to ensure maximum and free access to the Directorate’s service to the citizens of this country.
Following the announcement of the National lockdown alert Level 1 where there were reports of increased number of GBV and Femicide cases against women, the spike in complaints of lack of assistance by police levelled by some communities in respect to handling of criminal cases as well as the commitment of the Directorate to deal with gender related issues.
