As indicated few days ago, following a clear political guidance from the leadership of the African National Congress in KwaZulu-Natal, other provinces and regions, Dr Zweli Mkhize has a line-up of engagements with structures throughout the country.

The ANC leadership of Sakhuxolo Branch (Ward 52) in Ekurhuleni Paul Sehloho Zone, has invited Dr Zweli Mkhize to deliver the Bertha Gxowa Memorial Lecture. Other notable speakers to include Cde Nomvula Mokonyane, Cde Mzwandile Masina, among others.

This was the first branch in Gauteng to nominate Dr Zweli Mkhize as Incoming President. November is an important month as Cde Bertha Gxowa, the gallant fighter of our freedom, was born on the 28th November 1934. She departed on the 19th November 2010.

We are comforted by the fact that she left behind a catalogue of achievements in relation to the fight for the political freedom of the people of this country.

Members of the Fourth Estate are invited to cover this important lecture scheduled as follows:- Date: 23 November 2022 (Wednesday) Time: 15h00 (3pm) Venue: DH Williams Hall, Katlehong (Ekurhuleni Paul Sehloho Zone – Sakhuxolo Branch Ward 52)

Dr Zweli Mkhize remarked: “I am humbled to be invited to reflect on the life of Cde Bertha Gxowa – a  pathfinder of our freedom. As we count down to this important day, we need to acknowledge the role of women as a pillar of our movement."

"Ensuring equal access to economic opportunities – developing townships and rural economies should be accelerated as a way of paying tribute to Cde Bertha Gxowa and many more others.”

“The attention to protect all vulnerable groups, the children the women, the disabled and the LBTQI+ must remain central to building the ANC and society.”

“Critically, the ANC belongs to the people of South Africa The ANC belongs to the Gogo who has problems accessing the pension pay  The ANC belongs to the unemployed youth in the townships, rural areas and informal settlements. The ANC must remain the party for all and its policies should be used as a vehicle for the transformation of society not for the benefit of a selected few,” he concluded.
