To witness the incompetence and corruption of the ANC, one only needs to look at the condition of the roads in and around the Dihlabeng Municpality. For the last 5 years, this much needed infrastructure has deteriorated daily, and in some areas has become un-drivable.

The DA (Democratic Alliance) in Dihlabeng has been on the frontline in the fight against financial mismanagement. Each year the ANC passes unfunded budgets in the Dihlabeng Council and this impacts on the ability of the municipality to maintain roads and infrastructure.

Only the DA has voted against these budgets every single year, and has made it clear that the budget allocation towards maintenance is insufficient to deal with the entire Dihlabeng. Usually maintenance for roads and infrastructure should be around 8% of the municipality’s annual budget, however, in Dihlabeng funds allocated for this purpose is close to only 3%, not even half the normal standard.

Through the DA’s persistence, we have been able to have certain roads prioritised and added to the IDP to be repaired in the current financial year, but this is not nearly close to what is required. Some roads in Dihlabeng have reached their life expectancy due to poor planning, and the repairs done to these roads have been sub-standard.

Where the DA governs, roads and infrastructure is an absolute priority, and residents get what they pay for.

This is why it is crucial to vote DA on 1 November to give us the mandate of governing Dihlabeng and to bring the DA difference to residents of Dihlabeng. The DA is the only party that has achieved success where it governs, and the only party big enough to beat the ANC.

Giving the DA your vote, will give us a majority and this will guarantee adequate funding for maintenance of roads and infrastructure, and improve the quality of life of all residents.

Where the DA governs, the DA gets things done, and on 1 November, it’s your opportunity to bring the DA difference to Dihlabeng.

Issued by DA Ward Candidate in the Dihlabeng Municipality, Cllr Willie Theunissen
