KZN govt names those who scored big with Covid-19 contracts
The KwaZulu-Natal government paid R17-million of its total R2.1-billion expenditure on coronavirus to companies for which it has no details, Premier Sihle Zikalala said.
This emerged as the provincial government released its report on the owners and directors it paid around R2.1-billion to during the Covid-19 pandemic up to 31 August.
Zikalala said the point of releasing the report was not to be judgemental, but to get an understanding of how the money was spent and who benefitted, particularly in light of transformation goals.
ANC rivalry increasingly intense with President coming under fire
The ANC chairperson Gwede Mantashe has spoken out against an emerging tendency for ANC leaders who want to destroy one another in the guise of "cleansing the organisation".
Mantashe was speaking during an online lecture on organisational renewal in the Sarah Baartman region in the Eastern Cape.
Mantashe said the second tendency that was creeping into party structures was the ease with which members attack President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Libyan rivals reach deal to allocate positions in key institutions
Delegates from Libya's rival administrations have reached an agreement at talks in Morocco on criteria for appointments to their country's key institutions.
Dubbed the "Libyan Dialogue," the discussions brought together five participants from the internationally recognised Government of National Accord, which controls the capital, Tripoli and the northwest, and five others from the so-called House of Representatives, based in the eastern city of Tobruk.
He did not give further details but said the two sides would meet again during the last week of September to finalise mechanisms "that would guarantee the implementation and activation" of the agreement.
