Health Minister Zweli Mkhize has clarified he does not believe the Digital Vibes investigation has anything to do with African National Congress politics or the party's presidential race in 2022.

Mkhize said this following an article published by the Sunday Times, which said he had told his allies the probe was a ploy to eliminate him from contesting.

The department said the Minister remains committed to cooperating with the investigation process as it proceeds, and will ensure that the department continues to do its work in rolling out the vaccination programme and putting the necessary measures in place to mitigate the risk of the third wave.

South Africa records 3 285 new confirmed Covid-19 cases and 89 deaths

Gauteng has recorded the most with 476 514, followed by KwaZulu-Natal with 341 175.

And, Ekurhuleni Mayor says metro working with Eskom to ensure compliance

The City of Ekurhuleni is working with power utility Eskom to ensure it complies with implementation requirements for load-shedding, Mayor Mzwandile Masina says.

Masina said he had seen that Eskom had issued a statement saying the city must comply with load-shedding schedules, adding that it was doing so.

Masina explained that he had previously explained the metro was building capacity over time.
