Ramaphosa urges youth to take part in economic opportunities during Covid-19
President Cyril Ramaphosa has applauded South Africa’s entrepreneurial youth for using the Covid-19 pandemic to create good business ideas.
He is calling on more young South Africans, particularly in townships, to take advantage of economic opportunities during this time.
In his weekly address to the nation, President Ramaphosa said he was pleased at the combination of foresight, creativity and business acumen displayed by a number of young South Africans.
He said while conditions may not be ideal, it was a good time to jump into entrepreneurship, and assured that government would give its support.
Fewer trauma cases since new alcohol crackdown, says KZN Premier Zikalala
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala says the sudden renewed ban on alcohol sales imposed by President Cyril Ramaphosa last week is already yielding results in his province.
Zikalala said there are some signs of the easing of pressure in their trauma, accident and emergency units in hospitals, as well as the mortuary admissions of people who died from violent causes.
He said from, 6 July to 12 July, there had been 155 trauma cases in one Durban hospital.
ANC structures in Limpopo want VBS-linked party officials back - Jessie Duarte
The ANC deputy secretary Jessie Duarte says all the party's regions and structures in Limpopo have agreed that the two officials who were implicated in the collapse of the VBS Mutual Bank should be reinstated.
She said it was a case of "justice delayed is justice denied", as the two officials - provincial deputy chairperson Florence Radzilani and treasurer Danny Msiza - had offered themselves up for scrutiny before both the law and the party, yet nothing had come of it.
The two are linked to the looting of the VBS Mutual Bank that collapsed in 2018.
