Mkhize's call for unity met with mutiny from opposition parties

As a grim-faced Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize warned that the storm of Covid-19 infections is about to hit, opposition parties complained that he didn't batten down the hatches during the lockdown.

Mkhize warned that we have reached the surge and the storm was arriving.

He said government cannot fight this Covid-19 enemy alone but they need all political parties, social partners and every citizen to come on board.

South African airline announces successful repatriation of South Africans from Middle East

South African private-sector airline company CemAir has announced the successful conclusion of a repatriation flight, bringing South Africans home from Middle Eastern and African countries.

The repatriated South Africans were brought back from Uganda, Jordan and Iraq after being stranded abroad for almost four months.

CemAir also thanked the Department of International Relations and Cooperation and the Department of Transport for helping in arranging and supporting the flight.

Eskom warns of possibility of load-shedding from Thursday evening

Power utility Eskom has warned that it may implement load-shedding on Thursday evening.

The utility urged the public to reduce electricity usage, saying the power generation system is severely constrained.

Eskom has not instituted nationwide load-shedding since the start of the lockdown in late March after power usage plunged as much of the economy was shut down. But it has been cutting power to localised areas in what it calls load reduction.
