KZN ANC Women’s League supports Nomusa Dube-Ncube for chairperson

The African National Congress Women’s League Provincial Executive Committee is backing KwaZulu-Natal Finance MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube as party chairperson in the province.

This follows the ANCWL PEC meeting on Sunday, which was held to evaluate progress in relation to numerous challenges facing the province.

The ANCWL is backing Nomagugu Simelane as Deputy Chairperson, Bongi Sithole-Moloi as Deputy Secretary and Peggy Nkonyeni as Treasurer.

In a statement the PEC said it is mindful that patriarchy is subtle and difficult to fight against because it is embedded in societies, adding that the ANC has to lead from the front.

Statistics South Africa ready for Census 2022

Stats SA says it is ready to conduct the nationwide population and housing census, and is encouraging citizens to participate in Census 2022, which takes place between February 3 and 28.

Owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, the population count was shifted from October 2021 to February 2022.
Addressing the media in Pretoria, Deputy Minister in the Presidency Thembi Siweya said Census 2022

was South Africa’s fourth population count post-democracy and the country’s first digital census where at least 165 000 fieldworkers would be deployed across the country to count everyone within the borders of South Africa.

Siweya explained that for the first time this year the country would see a telephone census, digital census and physical census. For the physical census, deployees would have Stats SA stickers for identification.
