Agrizzi says fears for his life after spotting ex-cop colleague at inquiry

Former Bosasa chief operating officer Angelo Agrizzi said today he was concerned about threats on his life after he spotted an individual he had previously worked with at the venue of the inquiry into State capture where he is testifying.

Agrizzi has allegedly received death threats since he blew the whistle on corrupt activities at Bosasa and his appearance before the State capture commission presided over by Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo was kept under wraps until the last minute as a result.

Bosasa has been implicated in corruption allegations, doing favours for, and giving donations to influential politicians in return for lucrative government tenders.

Johannesburg city council discovers almost R9m in lost revenue

The Johannesburg city council says operations falling under its Buya Mthetho initiative have led to the discovery of almost R9-million in lost revenue due to illegal utilities connections to services in Fourways since 2015.

The City said the three properties which were visited were also found not to have complied with the city's bylaws and were fined.

The operation was led by Buya Mthetho director Lufuno Mashau and the city’s chief operating officer Floyd Brink under the directive of Finance MMC Funzela Ngobeni.

Popo Molefe says new board found 'horror show' at Transnet

State-owned freight rail company Transnet has issued summons to former top executives it says are implicated in financial mismanagement with a view to recouping some of the squandered money.

Dr Popo Molefe, chair of the Transnet board, today said during a media briefing that civil claims worth R1.3-billion had been served on individuals and companies. 

He revealed that Transnet had been called to appear before the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture.

Molefe, who was in May 2018 appointed by the Minister of Public Enterprises Pravin Gordhan to head the group's interim board, has been tasked with restoring governance.
