DA wants PSC report into Faith Muthambi made public

The Democratic Alliance says it will be writing to Public Service and Administration Minister Ayanda Dlodlo to ask her to make public the findings of the Public Service Commission report into former minister Faith Muthambi.

The PSC had found that Muthambi broke some rules when she reportedly appointed 27 people, including friends and relatives. The rules limit the number allowed to 10. That report has now been sent to President Cyril Ramaphosa and Dlodlo.

The DA's Desiree van der Walt said that, while the findings were welcomed, she found it peculiar that the contents of the report were shared only with the president and the minister and not with the DA.

Survey says ANC is trusted by majority of South Africans

As the 2019 general elections approach, a new survey shows that the majority of South Africans would vote for the ANC were the country to head to the polls tomorrow.

This is according to survey results, across all nine provinces, announced by the Association for Free Research and International Cooperation.

According to Afric project coordinator Mikael Cheuwa said that 59.9% of the respondents had a positive attitude towards the leading party while 34.6% of people preferred the Economic Freedom Fighters and 28% chose the DA.

Cele explains why he thinks McBride is not 'fit' for another term at IPID

Police Minister Bheki Cele has revealed why he could not back Independent Police Investigative Directorate head Robert McBride for another term in the job in a lengthy submission to Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Police.

In a letter seen by a news agency, Cele wrote that a misconduct complaint against McBride to the Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane had been referred for investigation.

He was writing to the committee after McBride argued that the committee, and not Cele, had the authority to decide not to renew his five-year contract when it ends on February 28.
