Eskom CEO tries to allay fears of job losses in internal staff memo

In an internal memo addressed to Eskom employees CEO Phakamani Hadebe responded to concerns about job security.

He noted that staff were concerned about job losses resulting from the Eskom turnaround.

Hadebe explained that the process of reducing the headcount will provide staff with options.

He said these included natural attrition, early retirement and the possibility of voluntary separation packages.

Mashaba welcomes JRA board's decision to act against top management

Joburg Mayor Herman Mashaba has welcomed a Johannesburg Roads Agency board decision to adopt a series of forensic investigations that implicated the entity's top management.

Disciplinary processes were established, and implicated individuals, including the current managing director of the JRA, were suspended.

The investigations were initiated following an expose earlier this year. The City appointed forensic firm Nexus to handle the investigation.

Zondo denies Moyane leave to cross-examine Gordhan

Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo has denied former Sars commissioner Tom Moyane leave to cross-examine Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan at the State capture commission.

Zondo found that the five themes presented by Moyane in his application failed to show how Gordhan had implicated him through his statement on allegations of State capture. Moyane also failed to show why these themes would serve in the best interests of the work of the commission.

However, Zondo intends to get further clarification on Gordhan’s allegation that Moyane pressed charges against him while he was finance minister.
