The City of Johannesburg wishes to distance itself from the "Color Fest Joburg" event which allegedly hired influencers and then abandoned them without paying for their marketing services.

The matter was brought to the City's attention when a group of people who identified themselves as the affected influencers started flooding the Johannesburg Executive Mayor, Cllr Mpho Moerane with complaints on his Twitter account directed at the municipality as though it was an organising partner of the event.

Inquiries with the City's Group Communications and Marketing Department about the possibility of the municipality's involvement in the referenced "Color Fest Joburg" initiative, it was established that the City has no relationship with such an event.

Details provided by the influencers suggest there is a potential case of fraud.

Therefore, the City of Johannesburg wishes to completely distance itself from the "Color Fest Joburg" event.

Anyone with information that could assist in getting to the bottom of the matter that at face value appears to be a case of fraud using the City and its Mayor's names is requested to contact the City’s Group Forensic and Investigation Service department (GFIS) through the 24hour tipoff hotline 0800 002 587 or visit the GFIS offices situated at 48 Ameshoff Street in Braamfontein.
