The ANC Women's League PTT is concerned about the accidents that involve trucks which lead to the loss of lives.

In one accident that occurred on 16th of September 2022, 20 people died. The accident led to the nation losing 18 learners and two adults.

Another horrific accident involving trucks occurred on the 19th of September 2022.

As KZN ANC Women's League PTT, we send our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and the entire community that is affected by the sudden loss.

African National Congress Women's League PTT calls upon law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation on the behaviour of truck drivers, verify their licenses and check roadworthyness of trucks and trailers.

Further calls on intensification of law enforcement agencies on the roads and close monitoring of the trucks on the roads of KwaZulu Natal, where possible a dedicated unit of the KZN Road Traffic Inspectorate be established to solely monitor trucks and their loads on our roads.

The increasing numbers of the accidents involving trucks is unacceptable and the pain caused by the loss of lives causes a serious setback to families since most of the victims are breadwinners.

The KZN ANCWL PTT will engage the Provincial Department of Transport in a bid to amicable discuss possible areas of interventions and plans for District based Prayers on these catastrophic events engulfing our province.
