Former eThekwini mayor Zandile Gumede on Thursday declared that the ruling African National Congress (ANC) was under attack, while addressing her supporters after her short appearance at the Durban Commercial Crimes Court.
Gumede appeared with her 16 co-accused in the corruption case related to a Durban Solid Waste tender.
The case was postponed to December.
Prosecutors have asked for more time to gather more information owing to coronavirus lockdown delays.
While addressing her supporters, she said only the branches of the ANC will be able to save the ANC from attacks.
Gumede said it was not fair that her case has taken more than a year without a proper charge in place.
“Those who are fighting with Oliver Tambo’s organisation must know that we are stronger than before and nothing will stop us from fighting this case till the end,” she said.
