ActionSA has recorded a remarkable surge in support in the Ward 109 by-election in Ekurhuleni, growing from 4% to 25% and surpassing both the EFF and MK to emerge as the primary challenger to a declining ANC from 69% to 37% in its stronghold.

ActionSA has demonstrated that we are stronger and ready to deliver ActionSA’s offer as a clear alternative, with credible plans to fix Ekurhuleni already resonating with residents who now, more than ever, require a break from the neglect, mismanagement and corruption that have brought Ekurhuleni to its knees.

Despite historically low turnout and difficult weather conditions, ActionSA’s disciplined campaign and clear message demonstrably resonated across all six voting stations with improved performance in every station closing the gap with the ANC to marginal levels.

ActionSA wishes to thank every volunteer, ground team member, Party Agent, our candidate Bafana Malaza, and especially the voters for an incredible achievement that demonstrates that ActionSA is not only regaining ground but also experiencing a surge in support, consistently reflected in by-election outcomes.

ActionSA will continue strengthening its presence on the ground as we build towards the 2026 Local Government Elections, with our fight to fix Ekurhuleni not only intended to compete but to win, ensuring that Ekurhuleni and every municipality we aim to govern have the opportunity to achieve the remarkable progress, turnaround and stability we are already demonstrating in Tshwane.
