Wesgro
Wesgro (Western Cape Trade, Investment and Tourism Promotion Agency) is the official destination marketing, investment and trade promotion agency for the Western Cape province of South Africa and the city of Cape Town. Established as a public entity, Wesgro operates under the mandate of the Western Cape Department of Finance and Economic Opportunities to attract foreign direct investment, promote exports and market the region as a tourism destination. The agency works to position Cape Town and the Western Cape as competitive locations for business, film production, events and leisure travel. Wesgro's activities include investor facilitation, sector research, trade missions, tourism marketing campaigns and air-route development through its Cape Town Air Access initiative, which seeks to secure new airline routes and frequencies to Cape Town International Airport. The organisation collaborates with national and international partners, airlines, tour operators and business networks to drive economic growth and job creation in the province. Wesgro reports to the provincial minister responsible for finance and economic opportunities and is governed by a board that includes public and private sector representatives. The agency plays a central role in implementing the Western Cape's Growth for Jobs Strategy and other economic development frameworks. Wesgro's work is frequently cited in coverage of tourism arrivals, investment announcements, trade agreements and air connectivity developments in the Western Cape.
