UBS (Union Bank of Switzerland) is a multinational investment bank and financial services company headquartered in Zurich and Basel, Switzerland. The firm provides wealth management, asset management and investment banking services to private, institutional and corporate clients worldwide. UBS operates across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific, with a particularly strong presence in wealth management for high-net-worth individuals. The bank is one of the largest wealth managers globally, overseeing trillions of dollars in invested assets. UBS is listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange. UBS was formed in 1998 through the merger of Union Bank of Switzerland and Swiss Bank Corporation, creating one of Europe's largest financial institutions. In 2023 UBS acquired Credit Suisse in a government-brokered rescue deal following Credit Suisse's collapse, significantly expanding UBS's scale and market position. The combined entity represents one of the world's most systemically important financial institutions, with enhanced capabilities in investment banking, trading and wealth management. UBS is a major participant in commodities markets, providing research, trading and investment products across precious metals, energy and other asset classes.
