Port Of Lobito
Port of Lobito is a deep-water seaport on the Atlantic coast of Angola, located in the city of Lobito in Benguela province. It is one of Angola's principal maritime gateways and serves as a critical export and import hub for the country and the wider southern African region. The port handles a diverse range of cargo, including containerised goods, bulk commodities, petroleum products and general freight. Its strategic location and natural deep-water harbour make it a key node for trade routes connecting landlocked countries in central and southern Africa to global markets. Port of Lobito is the western terminus of the Lobito Corridor, a transport route that extends inland via the Benguela railway line through Angola and into the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia. The corridor is of growing importance for the export of critical minerals, including copper, cobalt and rare earths, from the mineral-rich interior of the continent. Recent investment and rehabilitation efforts have focused on upgrading port infrastructure and expanding capacity to accommodate increased trade volumes and larger vessels. The port's development is supported by international partnerships aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and economic integration. Port of Lobito plays a vital role in Angola's economy, facilitating trade, supporting industrial activity and contributing to job creation in the coastal region.
