Hyundai is a South Korean multinational automotive manufacturer headquartered in Seoul. The company produces a wide range of vehicles including passenger cars, sport-utility vehicles, commercial vehicles and electric vehicles, competing across multiple market segments from entry-level to premium. Hyundai Motor Company is part of the larger Hyundai Motor Group, which also includes Kia and the luxury Genesis brand. The company operates manufacturing facilities and sells vehicles in markets across Asia, Europe, North America, Africa and other regions. Hyundai has invested heavily in electrification and alternative fuel technologies, launching battery electric and hydrogen fuel-cell models as part of its transition strategy. In South Africa, Hyundai maintains an established presence with local assembly operations and a dealer network serving the passenger and commercial vehicle markets. The brand competes against both traditional internal-combustion rivals and newer Chinese electric vehicle entrants in the South African market. Hyundai was founded in 1967 and has grown to become one of the world's largest automotive manufacturers by production volume and sales.
