international unity on Iraq Sunday, urging the United Nations to
agree to an ultimatum authorising force if Iraq does not disarm.
Germany welcomed on Monday a decision by Iraq to begin destroying
missiles banned by the United Nations for exceeding range limits
but urged Baghdad to improve cooperation with UN arms inspectors.
Britain said Monday that Iraq needed to do far more than break up
its al-Samoud 2 missiles to satisfy United Nations demands to
disarm and thus head off a US-led attack.
