AgriSA
AgriSA (Agricultural Business Chamber) is a federation of agricultural organisations in South Africa representing the interests of commercial farmers and agribusinesses across the country. The organisation serves as the largest agricultural industry body in South Africa, bringing together provincial agricultural unions and commodity organisations under a unified voice. AgriSA's mandate encompasses advocacy on policy matters affecting agriculture, including land reform, water rights, labour legislation, trade and market access, and rural development. The federation engages with government departments, particularly the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, on regulatory frameworks and sector-specific challenges. It provides members with services including legal support, economic research, training programmes, and technical advice on farming operations and business management. AgriSA also represents South African agriculture in international forums and maintains relationships with global agricultural bodies. The organisation plays a significant role in shaping agricultural policy debates, from input costs and infrastructure to food security and environmental sustainability. It advocates for the interests of both large-scale commercial farmers and emerging agricultural enterprises. AgriSA was established in 1904 as the South African Agricultural Union and has evolved through various restructurings to become the modern federation representing diverse agricultural sectors including field crops, horticulture, livestock, and agro-processing.
