A joint meeting is to be held between workers, tenants, students, business and the management of South Point Student Residences, where workers belonging to the South African Industrial Commercial and Allied Workers Union (SAICWU) are on strike.
Zwelinzima Vavi, SAFTU General Secretary, will take part in the negotiations
The strike follows the management’s refusal to bargain in good faith regarding the wages of the workers by introducing the minimum wages of R8,500, a Provident Fund, Medical aid, Housing allowances and the total abolition of outsourcing and all other forms of super exploitation in the workplace.
