MDC Alliance presidential candidate Nelson Chamisa has on Tuesday, took to social media to say that he was winning the Zimbabwean elections "resoundingly", with ballot counting and results collation still going on in the country.

“Winning resoundingly...We now have results from the majority of the over 10,000 polling stations. We’ve done exceedingly well. Awaiting Zec [Zimbabwe Electoral Commission] to perform their constitutional duty to officially announce the people’s election results and we are ready to form the next gvt.#Godisinit,” Chamisa said on Twitter.

Former Zimbabwe Deputy Prime Minister Arthur Mutambara wrote on Twitter: “Well done President Chamisa.”

MDC Alliance co-signatory Tendai Biti, who was Zimbabwe’s finance minister during the inclusive government between 2009 and 2013, wrote: “God truly is in it. History has been made.”

This comes as the electoral management body is yet to start announcing results, despite that counting has been completed in some provinces in the country.

Zec chairperson Priscilla Chigumba warned citizens and candidates from announcing any results before the electoral body.
