Webber Wentzel appoints new partner in Real Estate Practice

Leading South African law firm Webber Wentzel has appointed Marguerite Davis as a partner in its Real Estate Practice.

Apart from a few exceptions Marguerite has been operating independently as Marguerite Davis Attorneys and Conveyancers since 1989. She specialises in conveyancing and property law as well as environmental law and general commercial law.

Her experience in property law covers all areas of conveyancing and property-related agreements; structuring of property transactions; advising on township establishments, property subdivisions and developments, rezonings and consolidations; sectional title and shareblock schemes; drafting  and registering notarial and mortgage bonds; and advising on property-related securitisation.

Other areas of practice over the years have included the registration of companies, trusts, close corporations and homeowners associations; the drafting of commercial and shareholders agreements; the winding up of deceased estates; and general litigation.

Marguerite also has skills in environmental legislation and compliance including matters relating to water, air quality and waste, environmental impact assessments, conservation and biodiversity, as well as related High Court litigation.

Marguerite is a sessional lecturer in postgraduate courses at University of the Witwatersrand. She is also a member of the Environmental Law Association and the Johannesburg Attorneys Association and is an Admitted Conveyancer.

She has a BA LLB from the University of Cape Town and an LLM (cum laude) in Environmental Law from the University of the Witwatersrand.
