Vote against the tide, Malema urges ANC MPs

Julius Malema

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema went on a tirade against the ruling party in the National Assembly on Tuesday.

Malema, who had four minutes to get his point across, added two more minutes to his time, without approval from the presiding officer.

Malema shouted the virtues of the EFF over Deputy Speaker Lechesa Tsenoli, who called on him to sit down.

The EFF leader only stepped down when his microphone was switched off.

During his speech in the National Assembly in the debate to remove President Jacob Zuma, Malema said everyone was equal in front of the law, including Zuma.

He called on the African National Congress (ANC) MPs to vote to remove Zuma, and told them it was better to stand alone and for the truth.

He called on them to listen to the various calls by veterans to remove Zuma from office.

Malema said the ANC was making the same mistake with the Constitutional Court ruling, that they had with Public Protector Thuli Madonsela’s report.

"You want us to continue as if its business as usual. [The] Speaker, president and his advisors have not been removed. No single individual has been held accountable and you want us to believe you are upholding rule of law," he said.

He called on ANC MPs to vote against the tide.
