The scheduled maintenance work that was planned for the transformer that supplies power at the Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant (ZBWTP), which was scheduled for 21 January 2024, has been successfully completed.

During this maintenance period, Rand Water's reservoirs experienced minimal impact. Consequently, only a limited number of areas were affected. Recovery in these few areas is anticipated to take up to two days, beginning from January 21, 2024.

Rand Water extends its gratitude to Eskom for the successful completion of transformer maintenance within a prescribed period. We also thank our municipal customers for their cooperation, ensuring minimal negative impact on the downstream water supply.

Proactive infrastructure maintenance is important as it helps to preserve the quality of the infrastructure, reduces maintenance costs in the long term and increases the life span of the assets.
