The United National Transport Union (UNTU) is grateful that Tom Cook and Tumi Makunyane, the two train drivers that were involved when the Metrorail trains collided at Kaalfontein near Thembisa, are recovering well.

Tom is back at work after a preliminary investigation about the cause of the accident in which a passenger died and about 200 passengers were injured. He is receiving trauma counselling after he managed to jump out in time and had to watch the two trains colliding.

Tumi is still in hospital recovering after she underwent surgery to her knee yesterday. She is responding well to treatment. UNTU wishes her a speedy recovery.
