UDM: Bantu Holomisa on #Spy Tapes: President Zuma must man-up and face the charges

The United Democratic Movement (UDM) has noted that the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) dismissed President Zuma and the National Prosecuting Authority's (NPA's) bid to appeal against a high court judgment that corruption charges against him be reinstated.

After all, a full bench of the North Gauteng High Court ruled in 2016 that the NPA’s decision was irrational and said, “Mr Zuma should face the charges as outlined in the indictment.” Justice Leach today concurred.

The NPA’s refusal not to prosecute President Zuma had been ludicrous from the start. It must do its job because, should it fail, citizens will lose the last shred of trust it had in the NPA.

President Zuma just must man-up and face the music.

The African National Congress (ANC), which eight years ago set up a team (led by the current Minister of Human Settlements) to persuade NPA boss Mokotedi Mpshe to withdraw the charges, must take responsibility of the Constitutional crisis it has created. The ANC must not just only take note of the judgment, it must withdraw its irredeemable deployee.

Parliament should consider whether it can continue to be associated with a fellow whose credibility is shot. Parliament should in fact appoint three retired judges to comb through the charges and advise the NPA as its integrity has been compromised through its own actions.
