Two petitions challenging Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election in last month’s electoral re-run have been filed in Kenya’s Supreme Court, AP reported Tuesday.

Kura Yangu Sauti Yangu, Swahili for My Vote My Voice, a coalition of 12 rights groups and civil activists, filed its petition before the midnight deadline for challenging the October 26 election. Another petition was filed early Monday by politician Harun Mwau.

Kenya’s first elections in August were annulled by Kenya’s Supreme Court on the grounds of electoral irregularities. The court subsequently ordered the elections be held again but October’s rerun was largely boycotted by opposition leader Raila Odinga’s National Super Alliance (Nasa) coalition and his followers, resulting in a voter turn-out of less than 40 percent.
