Top honours for Spoor & Fisher in international survey

Specialist, full service international intellectual property law firm Spoor & Fisher has once again been named “Best Intellectual Property Law Firm in South Africa” for 2016 by Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) following their annual survey.  MIP is a leading international IP law periodical and the global awards honour outstanding IP law firms and individuals worldwide.

Based on the survey, Spoor & Fisher was accorded Top Tier status in the “Patent Prosecution”, “Patent Contentious”, “Trade Mark Prosecution” and “Trade Mark Contentious” categories and took top honours overall in the field of IP law.

Rather than simply being a list of the largest firms, this authoritative survey focuses on a qualitative, peer-based assessment of the ability of an individual firm to provide quality service to its clients. To gather the raw data, MIP’s editorial team interviews practitioners and in-house counsel.  Based on this research, the responses are analysed and collated to produce a list of rankings.  The list has categories covering prosecution and contentious matters in the various fields of IP law and is divided according to territory.

On receiving the news, Keith Brown, Chairperson of Spoor & Fisher said that “as a specialist intellectual property law practice, Spoor & Fisher sets great store in providing service excellence. The latest MIP accolade indicates that we not only set high standards, we maintain them – thanks to our expertise in patents, trade marks and copyright – and the commitment of every member of the team”.
