the dti AND NESTLE TO SIGN MOU ON DEVELOPMENT OF CHICORY PRODUCERS

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies, together with the Eastern Cape MEC for Rural Development and Agrarian Reform, Mr Mlibo Qoboshiyane will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chief Executive Officer of Nestle South Africa, Mr Ian Donald to establish self-sustainable and competitive businesses in the production of chicory in South Africa. Members of the media are invited to attend the ceremony:

The MoU is part of the Public-Private sector collaboration between industry and government for the chicory project. The chicory project is aimed at encouraging local farmers to grow chicory and supply Nestlé for use in its manufacturing of Ricoffy thus contributing to the revitalizing of rural economies.

The ceremony will be followed by an outreach event that will be addressed by Minister Davies, MEC Mlibo Qoboshiyane, MEC for Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism, Mr Sakhumzi Somyo, KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development and the Mayor of Ndlambe Municipality, Councillor Sipho Tandani.
