The Counterfeit Goods Act

The Counterfeit Goods Act (CGA) has been in force in South Africa since 1 January 1998 and despite some teething problems has proved to be a most effective tool against counterfeits.

The cornerstone of the CGA lies in the definitions of "intellectual property rights", "protected goods", "counterfeit goods", and "counterfeiting".
