On the eve of the closing date for submissions on the National Health Insurance (NHI), researchers of the Solidarity Research Institute (SRI) will answer follower’s questions regarding the contentious NHI in a live broadcast on the trade union’s Facebook page at 13:00 today.

The trade union already hosted a summit on this issue on 21 August this year where several medical, economic and legal experts expressed their concerns about the NHI. The trade union also used this summit to obtain inputs in order to submit its own comments on the bill.

According to Morné Malan, senior researcher at the SRI, all South Africans should ensure that they are well informed about the scope of the NHI and its possible consequences for their medical care.
